Now I take xanax to cope with stress. Not on a regular basis, just when I need it. Maybe once or twice a week. About .25 to .5 mg each time. My BPD spouse also take it to calm down when she feels an attack coming on. It helps.
My BPD spouse also takes 5-HTP to give her a better outlook and mood. She also takes Magnesium Calcium to ease her migranes which can and do trigger the BPD episodes. Basically we are doing whatever it takes to reduce the conflicts in our lives.
I found this review of Zoloft for BPD patient. Really scary...
ReplyDeleteZoloft -my dangerous journey! I was prescribed Zoloft after asking a new doctor for Prozac, which I'd taken before and done well on. So I tried the Zoloft. The side effects were pretty bad. The usual sleepiness, dry mouth, headache, and nausea.
On the 4th day, I suddenly had an impulse to murder my boyfriend. We were not fighting. We were on very good terms and had a pretty good relationship. And I am an extremely peaceful and non-violent person.
Luckily, this murderous impulse did not happen in the kitchen where I had knives handy or I might be in prison right now. The impulse had been so strong and so sudden, it terrified me. I immediately discontinued Zoloft.
My sister had a very similar murderous impulse while on Zoloft, but continues to take it.
I also had a friend who was put on Zoloft and he became irritable and somewhat violent [broke his hand punching a door -no longer able to control his anger].
There was also a case in FL where a 16 year old boy was put on Zoloft and 3 months later, murdered his elderly neighbor and spray-painted her red. In spite of hospital reports saying that his demeanor changed from quiet and withdrawn to irritable and a trouble-maker after being put on Zoloft, he still received a life term for the crime.
I really do not like Zoloft.... scary stuff!!!
